Art is always difficult to describe. Indeed, art has a lot in common with a humorous story. If you have to explain the story, it probably wasn’t very good to begin with.
Having said that, I’ll give you an overview of a couple of main themes that I try to incorporate into my pieces.
The first theme is analogous to landscapes. Frequently there is motion, either internal or through space. There is often a feeling of journey or exploration.
The other theme is analogous to portraits or object studies. The focus is more on groupings and relationships among elements which contribute to a feeling of unity or equilibrium.
Many pieces have both themes, while others lean strongly one way or the other. Both relate to life energy and its manifestation within us. To have motion, there must be balance. To be centered, conflicting forces must be reconciled.
These are more than homilies. They are a product of my lifelong journey of discovery in martial arts, medicine and experiencing the consequences of many correct and incorrect life choices.
Ultimately, my art is about you. It is about the energies that make up your life. Hopefully you will see something in the mirror of my images that clarifies and connects. You will see something that you always knew was there, but remained unperceived. There is an “Ah-ha” factor in my art. I can’t wait for you to find it.
